1. Q: Why are there going to be educational panels at Vegan Fest?
A: Being informed and educated about the positive aspects of a primarily plant-based diet provide will provide you with the tools you need to make healthier choices about your food intake. Moreover, being knowledgeable and mindful about how your food intake choices, including opting for a more plant-based diet, can have positive environmental benefits from a sustainability perspective.
2. Q: How many educational panels will there be?
A: There will be two educational panels, a “Health Focus” panel and a “Planet Focus” panel. The names and titles of all panelists will be forthcoming shortly.
3. Q: How long will each panel run?
A: Each panel will run for approximately one hour.
4. Q: What time does each panel begin?
A: The “Health Focus” panelbegins at 10 a.m. The “Planet Focus” panelbegins at 11 a.m.
5. Q: No one in my family is a vegan, including myself. Why should I attend?
A: What you learn may help you, your family, and the environment. Learn more about how a plant-based diet and exercise can offer positive benefits. Discover how your mindful food choices can positively impact the environment. Non-vegans and vegans alike will benefit from the knowledge and insights they gain from these panels. Panelists will operate under the presumption that most audience members are non-vegans.
6. Q: Can I bring my kids to this event?
A: Yes. Both panels will be geared toward a broad audience, so that it will be educational for all. Recognizing that very young children have short attention spans, we will be offering a Children’s Dance Session at the same time as these panels.
7. Q: How do I get into the Town Hall Council Chambers where the presentations will be given?
A: The Berkeley Heights Police Station is housed in Town Hall. Take the steps up to the Police Station doors to enter the building. Then, make an immediate right and walk through the double doors.
8. Q: How do I get to this event if I’m traveling from outside of Berkeley Heights?
A: Here are directions if you’re traveling by car or by New Jersey Transit:
By Car, Driving East– Take Route I-78 East to Exit 41, Berkeley Heights/Scotch Plains. Turn left onto Drift Road. Continue on Drift Road to the traffic light. Turn left at the traffic light onto Plainfield Avenue. Continue on Plainfield Avenue for approximately 1.5 miles. Turn left onto Hamilton Avenue and then make a quick right turn into the driveway leading to the Lower Columbia Park parking lot. The venue is located in back of Columbia Middle School (if you pass the school on Plainfield Avenue, you’ve gone too far).
By Car, Driving – Take Route I-78 West to Exit 41, Berkeley Heights. Turn right onto Drift Road. Turn left at the traffic light onto Plainfield Avenue. Continue on Plainfield Avenue for approximately 1.5 miles. Turn left onto Hamilton Avenue and then make a quick right turn into the driveway leading to the Lower Columbia Park parking lot. The venue is located in back of Columbia Middle School (if you pass the school on Plainfield Avenue, you’ve gone too far).
By Train– Coming from New York City, take the Morris & Essex line (the green line) train to the Berkeley Heights Station. The Berkeley Heights Station platform is east of and perpendicular to Plainfield Avenue. Turn right on Plainfield Avenue and walk approximately half a mile. Pass Columbia Middle School, which will be on your right. Make a right on Hamilton Avenue, and then make a quick right turn into the long driveway leading to the Lower Columbia Park parking lot.
